IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY

We are proud to be part of a legacy of elegant wines paired with warm hospitality and elevated culinary encounters that capture the spirit of the Russian River Valley. We share a deeply rooted passion for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sparkling wines, founded on a spirit of transforming tradition. J experiences are designed to inspire people to make their own mark—whatever their endeavor.

Our Winemaker, Nicole Hitchco*ck, embodies these beliefs and her efforts earned her the coveted Winemaker of the Year award in 2022 from Wine Enthusiast. Her expertise has elevated J wines

an incomparable ultra-small-lot Extra Late Disgorged Brut that spent 13 years en tirage.

We are dedicated to moving the wine and food industries forward. In 2023 we were honored with
the Sonoma County Tourism Innovation Award, acknowledging our work to develop an inclusive atmosphere and promote a greater level of diversity in all aspects of the wine industry through our Shifting the Lens culinary series. And we’re just getting started.

What not to do at a wine tasting? ›

AVOID Drinking Too Much, Too Fast

Wine tasting is supposed to be fun, and it's perfectly fine to drink a bit and have a good time. But especially if you're new to the experience, it's easy to drink more than you intended, and intoxicated tasters are notoriously annoying.

Do you drink a lot at wine tasting? ›

The pours at a wine tasting (whether the host pours or you pick up a bottle on a table full of bottles) should be very small, about an ounce or ounce and a half. You would then take a taste of it. You then have the choice of finishing that little bit or pouring it out into a dump bucket (or on the ground if outside).

Do you eat during a wine tasting? ›

Majority of the tasting rooms will allow you to bring in outside food for you to eat while enjoying your wine, but it's important to research this prior to your arrival. We recommend having a nice big breakfast before your first tasting so that you can get some food in your belly before drinking.

Do you tip on a wine tasting tour? ›

If a tasting room host has been especially educational or helpful, please consider leaving them a tip. If you've had a great time, it's customary to leave $5 per person. If you don't purchase anything or if you've received a coupon or discount for the tasting, then it's polite to leave $10 per person.

Do you tip the sommelier at a winery? ›

It is always good etiquette to tip a sommelier, but it is not mandatory when the cost of the wine is included in the bill. On the way out the door, you can, of course, slip the sommelier cash, again 15%-20% of the cost of the wine, along with your generous words of appreciation.

If you're looking for a relaxed and intimate weekend with laid-back wine tastings, straight-from-the-farm freshness, and breathtaking outdoor experiences, then Sonoma is the place for you. And, if you're new to the wine scene, and still looking for wine tasting tips, you might feel less intimidated in Sonoma County.
